Do you need boxing shoes for your boxing training or just for a bout?

You have just started boxing for fitness at the local boxing gym and you are loving it, love the training, love the environment and they are a great bunch of guys and girls that you train with. You have been using the gloves out of the box, the one that most gyms have in the corner where that has some of the original gloves the gym started with and the gloves that people have left there by mistake or have been retired after they reached their use by date. They are usually smelly, dirty and should not be used without wraps or inners, to protect your hands from the nasties that may lurk inside the gloves.

Boxing glove guide part 2

Monday, 23 October 2017 9:55:00 pm Australia/Perth

What's inside your Boxing gloves.

How the foam inside of the glove is constructed.

The internal foam which most people will not see, is one of the most important parts of the boxing glove, you can have the best external glove material which may last 2 or 3 years but if the foams that have been used inside the glove are not good quality you may see the padding deteriorate within in 6 months, rendering the glove useless.

  1. Machine made injected molded foam or IMF.

  2. Hand-made layered foam.

  3. Layered foam, horse hair combined, ( not used very often now days)

Guide to Boxing Gloves, What’s inside a boxing glove parts 1 to 9

The most important parts of a Boxing Glove for Boxing, Muay Thai and Mma.

Whatever the style of fighting sport you practice, whether you are a competitive fighter or you train Boxing or  Muay Thai for fitness or self defence.

You will hit a lot of punching bags, focus pads, Thai Pads and some of you will hit your opponents or sparring partners. This will mean a lot of punishment for your hands which need to be protected over the many years that you may train. I have been training, competing and coaching boxing and Muay Thai for over 30 years and expect many more years out of my hands. So if you plan to hit the heavy bag, focus mitts, speed ball or spar with an opponent you will need to know how to select the right boxing gloves for you.

This boxing glove guide will answer many of the most frequently asked questions and many of the most important questions you would not think of asking but should!

Part 1. Material on the outside of the gloves.
